Pete thought he had lived a full life. An Army veteran who had travelled all over the world. Then he held his baby daughter in his hands and knew how complete his life would become.
For some, making the transition from active duty Infantry soldier to stay-home-dad might have been a difficult adjustment, but Pete realized that all his training had prepared him for that moment. Being able to think on his feet, adapt to changes in the environment of a fluid situation and maintaining a cool head under pressure, especially when someone is screaming, are valuable traits in a new parent that transfer over from the military.
His attitude is that becoming a parent did not stop him from living; it is just the next step in the adventure that is life.
